The Learn to Row program is an introductory level
summer course open to all Westfield boys and girls to learn sport of Rowing. Grades 6 to 12. Two week sessions run from the
end of June through August.
The course is required for High Students to tryout for the Westfield Competitive Rowing Team each successive
spring. No experience is necessary but athletic aptitude is suggested. The Summer LTR is followed up by Sunday Fall rowing
until mid November.
Rowing is a beautiful sport, which can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It is a very competitive,
highly aerobic, low impact, all around physical and aesthetic experience. Students will receive
instruction in land based training, water safety and on the water instruction. Experience the fundamentals of racing Crew.
The fastest growing High School sport in the country. There are 57 High School teams in NJ. 10 LTR training sessions 5:00pm - 7:00pm - One evening
session in June of land based orientation training and 9 days on the water, + 1 built in bad weather day. Day time and weekend
sessions by appointment added as needed. Flex Scheduling - Transportation can
be provided on a limited basis. Car pooling is recommended.Camper
contact lists will be provided after enrollment is completed Become part of a team.
The Westfield Rowing Club operates out of the Rutgers University rowing facility
in New Brunswick, NJ. RT 18 North.
