The mission of Westfield Competitive
Rowing, Inc. - Westfield Crew, is to provide financial and logistical support to boys and girls to Westfield and surrounding
towns who are participating and competing in the sport of crew, to provide the opportunity to achieve their respective
potentials and develop their character and citizenship to benefit the town, their families, themselves and their future endeavors.
WCRI
sponsored participants will be appropriately skilled and trained at an approved rowing facility in order to compete and or
participate in High School level rowing competition. Students will be committed to train year round and thrive in a competitive
environment as a compliment to building their future success. Westfield Crew develops rowers who understand the importance
of team work and discipline and who are always trying to improve themselves individually. Westfield Crew members will understand
and respect that rowing is the ultimate team sport as well as an individual sport. Parents are essential to the WCRI mission
to provide proper encouragement and instill good will and sportsmanship at all team competitions and functions.
Rowers:
Rowers who love the sport and enjoy being challenged. Rowers committed and dedicated
to physical training year round.
Rowers who want to reach the next
level and improve their own personal achievement. Rowers who understand "team synergy" and "respect for the
individual." Rowers who respect their coach, fellow teammates, competitors and equipment
Parents:
Parents committed to fund-raising and financial and logistical support, to help improve their children's
level of achievement and experience.
Parents who are capable of
supporting their athletes' participation in a positive way.
Parents
will instill good sportsmanship in competitive situations and will demonstrate respect for all the coaches, athletes and competitors.
Coaching
Staff:
A Coach will be an individual who has rowing experience and
who is appropriately certified.
A Coach will determine the strengths
and weaknesses of each individual rower then work with them to help reach their maximum potential.
The Coach will not engage parents regarding matters of athletic evaluation and competitive placement.
